I do not suppose we fall often. Do you remember the last time you took a fall? You lost your balance. Your arms flailing to grab something to stop the fall. You felt embarrassed. You felt the pain. What happened next? You picked yourself up. Or someone helped you up.
Our walk with Christ can feel the same. We stumble in weakness. We give in to temptation. We fall short of what we know we should do. It is natural to feel ashamed. You may even think of giving up. However, Proverbs 24:16 reminds us that, “for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again”. Falling does not spell the end, staying down does.
Dear readers, if you stumble, know this, God’s grace is greater than your failure. He is there to lift you. His mercy is new every morning. He gives you strength to walk again.
Your feet feel heavy, the road seems long, but stumbling does not mean you left the path. Get up. Get going. Trust that Jesus walks with you.
I invite you to say this prayer.
Father, when I stumble, lift me up by your grace. Teach me not to stay down in shame. Let me rise again in faith. I want to keep walking with you. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
