When You Feel Alone

Your colleague told you he was leaving. That was the last one. You are the only one left in the office. You just need another 30 minutes to complete the report. The light is still on. The air is still cool. You suddenly notice how quiet everything is. You cannot but feel lonely.

We do not always have someone along the way. Sometimes, friends are busy, family has their own lives, prayer feels unanswered. People may surround us, yet we carry the quiet ache of feeling unseen. Loneliness’ whisper is so clear, “You are on your own.”

What does the Bible tell us? “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deut 31:6) Even when no one else is near, his presence surrounds us.

Dear reader, when you feel alone, know that you are never abandoned. Jesus walks with you, even in the silence. He comforts. He brings peach. His word anchors and his love holds.

I invite you to say this prayer.

Father, when I feel alone, remind me that you are with me. Dispel my fears with your presence. Let me rest in your unfailing love. Give me strength to walk on. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
