A Shattered Dream

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jer 29:11)

Some dreams die without any fanfare. They fade. They are forgotten. A door closes, a path disappears, a plan you once prayed over slowly unravels. You watch what you built begin to crumble, and you can do nothing to stop it.

You tell yourself to move on, but your heart lingers where your hopes once stood. You had faith. You prayed. You believed. Yet the answer was “no.”

A shattered dream can feel like a betrayal. But in time, you may see that God was not breaking you – he was redirecting you. What you thought was an ending may be his way of protecting you from something unseen, or preparing you for something greater, something better.

God’s plan does not always align with ours, but his purpose never fails. Every disappointment that bends you closer to him is a mercy in disguise.

Hold your broken dream gently. Lay it at his feet. He is the only one who can turn loss into wisdom and emptiness into strength.

You may not see how it all fits yet, but you can trust the hands that hold your future.

I invite you to say this prayer.
Father, I give You my shattered dreams. I do not understand why some doors must close, but I trust that your plan is good. Heal the ache in my heart. Teach me to wait in hope and to walk by faith, not by sight. I pray in the name of Jesus, amen.
