The big idea of Psalm 141 is the importance of guarding the heart. David asked God to help him stay on the right path. He did not want to stray from the path.
Not on Your Own. Continuing the message from yesterday, please remember this – do not try to take on everything on your own. You cannot count on yourself to stay on the straight and narrow.
Be Discerning. A long time ago, there was social media analysis service that tells you who your key influencers are and who are most influenced by you. Looking at the data is sobering. There are some key influencers I do not mind. There are some that I do. Please be discerning about the information and people your surround yourself with. Carefully choose influences that uplift you, inspire you and is in line with the Bible. As Christians, we must not be seen as a confused bunch who cannot tell fact from fiction. It takes away any credibility you have when you try to share the Gospel.
Strive for Moral Integrity. Whatever values and principles we learn from the Bible, we uphold them, even when faced with persecution or temptation. As David did, ask God for strength and to make righteous choices. Those are tough choices to make. Those are tough decisions to make. However, those are the choices and decisions that please God. And please God is what we want to do.
What is a recent situation where you know the right thing to do but the circumstances were not favourable to support doing that thing? How did you handle it? At what stage did you seek God?
