Greetings! We continue with the 2024 DUMC Bible Reading Plan. We are going to read 2 chapters from 2 Samuel and 4 chapters of Psalms.
God’s Timing is Perfect. rom past readings, we have seen how David was anointed as king but he did not take the throne immediately. He waited faithfully and patiently before being made king. We often hope for immediate results. We want instant gratifications. However, God’s timing is the best.
Seek God’s Guidance. Despite being anointed as king, David did not lean on his own understanding. Instead he depended on God. Twice (verses 19 and 23) we saw him inquire of the Lord before a battle. It is important for us to seek God’s guidance and trusting his wisdom in making decisions. We should not be making decision because it feels right or because we don’t like it. Find out God’s will.
Faith During Tough Times. While waiting, David did not remain idle. He gathered followers, built up his forces, and gained valuable experiences in battles. He remained faithful even when he faced delays or setbacks. Trust that God is preparing you and equipping you for future victories. Do not hope for fortunes or blessings to fall off the sky.
