How do you like to be in a world where knowledge is readily available like treasures waiting to be discovered? This is the world envisioned in Psalm 119:33-64. The Psalmist has a deep longing to learn and understand God’s ways.
“Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart.” (verse 34)
It is important to actively seek God’s wisdom. The mere possession of knowledge is not enough. We must have the understanding to apply it in our lives. The Psalmist desires not only to know God’s law, but also to keep it with all his heart.
How can we cultivate this yearning for God’s wisdom? As shared yesterday, we read the Bible, we study the Word of God, and we pray for the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth to us. And we do not stop at that. We live it. We must actively seek opportunities to apply God’s principles in our lives.
When a life is transformed by the Word of God, it is a life filled with purpose and joy. The Psalmist’s longing for understanding can be yours too!
Father, I thank you for the gift of your Word. Give me a thirst for knowledge and a desire to understand your ways. Open my heart and mind to your wisdom. May your principles guide our every step. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
