Weekend Encourager – Be a Friend

We live in a fast-fact world. We have no time to wait for anything. Even friendship can sometimes be a luxury.

As Christians, we are called to love. To us, making genuine friendship is not just a possibility but a divine imperative. Being a friend can transform lives, deepen faith, and build stronger communities.

A neighbour is someone in our lives due to their proximity. Those who stay near us are our neighbours. A friend, on the other hand, is someone in our lives because of love and relationships. In addition to that, Christian friendship is more than casual acquaintances or social interactions. It is rooted in the love of Christ and exemplified by his relationships with his disciples. Jesus showed us a friendship that is sacrificial, compassionate, and unwavering. The essence of true friendship is selfless love and commitment.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friend.” (Jn 15:13)

To build authentic relationships, we need to be intentional. Friendships require effort. We need to make time for our friends, lend a listening ear, celebrate their joys, share a shoulder to cry on. #BeReal. Intentionality fosters trust and shows that we value a relationship. Pray for our friends. Prayer strengthens the bond, and it also brings divine guidance and comfort into the lives of our friends. Lift each other up. Offer support and motivation in spiritual and personal growth.

Friendship is a vital part of any ministry. In our Christian walk, friendships are not optional. Rather, they are essential. Through genuine relationships, we can demonstrate God’s love to others. Your friendship can be the catalyst for someone to come to know Jesus.

Will you be my friend?
