1 Kings 5 sees King Solomon begins the monumental task of building the temple. We read about the cooperation between Solomon and Hiram, the king of Tyre, who is a friend of King David. Hiram provides materials. Solomon pays them wages and provides food.

The alliance between them is a testament to the power of partnership and the mutual benefits that come from collaborative efforts.

There are times when we want to go solo. We look at the situation and think that it is easier when I do it myself. Aristotle said the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. When we come together, when we work with one another, there is chemistry not found when we work individually. Partnership brings forth constructive collaboration that comes from different perspectives and experiences. Working together also brings great emotional benefits including motivation, mutual support, and boosted morale.

Solomon’s wisdom is evident. He recognized the limitation in resources and skills and seek external support. Do not our limitations restrict our dreams. Work together to help one another so we can do even greater things, things we are otherwise not able to accomplish on our own.

God gives different people different gifts, talents, knowledge, and skills. By cultivating relationships build on trust and mutual respect, we can create a supportive community where we can learn from, encourage, and uplift one another. Isn’t that something you want? Together, we advance the Kingdom of God on earth.

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10)

I invite you to say this prayer.

Father, I thank you I do not have to do everything on my own. I thank you I have a great community of faith where I can partner with. I can seek support and work together with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. I know that when we work together, we can achieve great things to give you honour. And by working together, we show the love of Christ in us. Thank you, Father. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
