Think about the time when your friends ask you to share your testimony. Did you hesitate? Why did you hesitate? Was it fear, uncertainty or did you feel inadequate? Or was it because you did not have your testimony prepared? How can we overcome these barriers and prepare yourself to confidently share your testimony the next time the opportunity arises? How can you trust in God’s strength to guide you through this?

We, as Christians, are called to bear witness to God. We want to talk about God’s work in our lives. We want to talk about God’s faithfulness and love. Our testimonies are powerful. They can inspire, encourage, and bring others closer to Jesus Christ. Let us commit to being ready at all times to share our life stories of God’s grace and transformation.

“But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” (1 Pet 3:15)

Peter reminds us to be prepared all the time. This readiness does not happen by accident. It requires intentional preparation.

Think about life before meeting Jesus. Fear, anger, and darkness. Then recall the engagement with Jesus. How did you meet Jesus? What transpired? Was it a revival meeting? Was it a church camp? Was it during dinner with a good friend? Then, think about the challenges God helped you to overcome, and the way he has transformed your life. Write everything down. Read it and touch it up. This does two things. One, it helps you to remember God’s faithfulness in your life. Two, it helps you not to miss anything. You may want to prepare one condensed version and one longer version.

Do not try to hard sell Jesus. Tell it as it is. Do not exaggerate. Do not make up stories. Your testimony does not have to be dramatic. On the other hand, do not say there is no change to your life after you accepted Jesus. The authenticity of your story and the work of the Holy Spirit will make it impactful. And do not give yourself pressure. Just focus on planting a seed. God will sow when the time is right.

Get your testimony ready. Pray for opportunities to share your story. Pray for courage to seize the opportunities when they come along. God can use your testimony in ways you cannot imagine to touch and change lives. Be ready. Be willing. Be obedient. Always pray.
