Dear readers,
We are going into the week 32 of the year and week 32 of the 2024 DUMC Bible Reading Plan. This week, we read 2 chapters from 1 Kings and 4 chapters from Psalm. 1 Kings 7 and 8, Psalms 131, 84, 134 and 135 share a common theme, that is, the house of God and the worship of God.
The temple of God in these passages is more than just a physical building. It is a symbol of God’s presence, a place of worship, and a centre of unity for God’s people. The longing for God’s presence and the joy of worshipping together in his house is a theme that resonate with believers across generations.
Regardless of the physical temple we go to, the spiritual principles from these passages remain relevant. The church today is a place where believers father to worship, to seek God’s presence, and to experience God’s love.
May our hearts be filled with the same longing and joy as the psalmists, as we seek to be basked in the presence of God.
Let us journey through these passages together and learn to appreciate the joy of worshipping God.
