Is there a place where you feel completely safe and comfortable? It could be the reading corner in your home, a bench in the park, cuddling with your dog, or your mother’s house. Imagine the sights, sound, smells, atmosphere you experience when you are there. How does being there make you feel?

In Psalm 132, we are reminded of God’s faithfulness and his promises to his people. This is a song of ascent, sung by pilgrims on the way to Jerusalem. Psalm 132 recounts God’s covenant with David and God’s eternal commitment to his people.

David vows to find a dwelling place for the Lord. This shows his deep desire for God’s presence. And God responds with the following declaration.

“For the Lord has chosen Zion, he has desired it for his dwelling, saying, ‘This is my resting place for ever and ever; here I will sit enthroned, for I have desired it.’” (verses 13, 14)

Let us cultivate a heart to seek God’s presence in our life. Trust in his unwavering faithfulness and find rest in his eternal covenant. What is better than being in the presence of God? We find rest and peace and joy in his presence.

I invite you to say this prayer.

Father, thank you for your faithfulness and promises. Make my heart your home and help me to seek your presence daily. Strengthen my faith and fill me with the joy of your salvation. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
