Weekend Encourager – Have You Lost Your Joy?

You enjoyed your holiday trip to Japan. You know you will be back again. However, the otherwise perfect trip is marred by a small regret – you lost the bracelet your high school best friend gave you. You did not notice when it fell off from your wrist. You may never see it again.

In the hectic life we live, it is easy to feel like we lost our joy. What brings you joy? Not the rat race in your office. Not the mundane life. Not the phone with the cracked screen which does not support the game app you want to install. Not the plants you have to water every day.

It can be due to stress, disappointment, or just the weariness of routine. Many Christians find themselves missing the joy that once they experienced in their walk with God. If this has even happened to you, please know that one, you are not alone, two, the joy is not lost forever, unlike your bracelets.

“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” (Psalm 16:11)

From the Bible, we know that true joy is found in God’s presence. Whenever you feel like you have no joy, go back to the source of our joy – spending time with God. When we draw near to God in prayer, worship, and reading the Bible, he restores our heart and fill us with his joy.

If you find no joy, take a moment to reconnect with God. Quiet time, prayer, meditation, and waiting on God. Allow him to renew your spirit and restore the joy of your salvation. Remember, the joy of the Lord is your strength.
