Greetings, my dear friends. We continue to read the Bible according to the 2024 DUMC Bible Reading Plan. This week, we will read four passages in five days – Psalm 146, 2 Kings 21 (in two days), 2 Kings 22, and Psalm 116. We will read about devotion to God.
Psalm 146 calls us to trust God rather than in human power. 2 Kings 21 chronicles the reign of King Manasseh, which is marked by disobedience and idolatry. This is in contrast of King Josiah who humbly seeks to restore true worship in Judah. Psalm 116 is a heartfelt devotion to God.
As we read these passages, let us reflect on our own devotion to God. Do we trust in God fully as encouraged by Psalm 146. Are we willing to repent and turn back to God, like Josiah? I pray these passages will inspire us to deepen our relationship with God and live a life marked by true devotion.
Let us take time every day this week to read Psalm 146, 2 Kings 21, 2 Kings 22, and Psalm 116. May these passages speak to your heart, and allow God to guide you into a deeper, more committed relationship with Him.
