Good day. Today, we read Psalm 146. It reminds us who to trust. The psalmist opens with a call to praise the Lord. Note that our devotion to God is lifelong (see verse 2). Consider this and contrast the transient nature of human power.

The psalmist warns against placing our trust in human leaders. They may have power. However, they are mere mortals, and they are not able to offer true security (see verse 3). We are instead encouraged to put our trust in God, who is forever faithful. He upholds justice for the oppressed and provides for those in need.

Psalm 146 gives us a beautiful picture of God’s character. He is the creator of everything. He is the defender of the vulnerable. He reigns forever. God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. The psalm challenges us to shift our focus from the uncertainties of the world to the unwavering reliability of our God. When we trust in God, we find true security, real peace, and a genuine hope. All these transcend the temporary nature of any earthly power.

I invite you to say this prayer.

Father, help me to place my trust in your alone. Remind me of your eternal faithfulness and guide me to rely on your strength rather than on human power. While I respect and admire human leaders, let me remember they are flawed just like me. May I praise you all my life and find peace in your everlasting care. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
