Ps 67 is a joyful psalm of praise. It celebrates God’s blessings, and it calls for all nations to know and to worship him. Ps 67 beautifully captures the desire for God’s favour to be upon his people so that his glory may be known throughout the earth.
May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine on us — so that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. (verses 1 and 2)
Verse one is commonly used as a benediction during prayers.
What can we take away from Psalm 67?
First of all, be thankful for God’s blessings. The psalmist invited us to celebrate the ways God blesses us. Count his blessings.
Next, pass it on. We are to pray and work for the spread of God’s salvation to all nations. Each and every one of us Christians are called to be a part of this mission.
Lastly, rejoice in the Lord, always. Every blessing is a reminder of God’s goodness and faithfulness. It should spark joy and praise in our hearts.
I invite you to say this prayer.
Father, I thank you for your gracious blessings. May your face shine upon me and lead me to share your love and salvation with the world. Let all nations praise you and rejoice in your goodness. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
