What does it mean to live a life blessed by God?
“Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands.” (verse 1)
In Ps 112, we see a picture of joy, stability, and legacy of those who fear the Lord and delight in his commands.
Verse one sets the tone. It shows that a deep respect for God and a love for his ways bring genuine joy. Those who live this way are marked by resilience, generosity, and unwavering faith in tough times. This is the life I want to live.
Ps 112 encourages us to prioritize God’s commands in our daily lives. We can start by making time and space for God’s Word every day. Allow it to shape our thoughts, actions, and attitudes. As we do, we will notice an increased strength to face life’s challenges. We will also develop a growing desire to give generously to others, reflecting God’s character.
Back to the question in the beginning. What does it mean to live a life blessed by God? Ps 112 let us know that a life centred on God is a blessed life. When we live with integrity and faithfulness, our lives serve as a testimony of God’s goodness, and it in turn offers hope and encouragement to everyone around us.
I invite you to say this prayer.
Father, help me to live with a deep reverence for you and a delight in your commands. May my life reflect your love, generosity, and strength so that I can bless others and glorify you. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
