Have you ever given it some thoughts about who really rules the world? Is it the newly elected president of the leader of the free world? The one in Vatican? The R family with its tentacles extended to every industrial sector in the world? The “enlightened” secret society?
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.” (Verses 1 and 2.)
Ps 24 reminds us of the unshakable truth that the Creator of all things is also the sovereign king of all. It opens with a declaration of God’s ownership over the entire earth and its inhabitants. Who can ascent the mountain of the Lord (verse 3)? Those with clean hands and pure hearts, those who seek God with integrity. Ps 24 concludes with the King of Glory triumphantly entering the gates while all creation celebrates.
Ps 24 challenges us to acknowledge God’s authority and approach him with reverence. It invites us to align ourselves with his kingdom by cultivating purity, humility, and faithfulness.
As we reflect on Ps 24, think of how we can honour God as the king of our lives. Seek to live in ways that glorify him, through acts of kindness, honest work, or heartfelt worship. Let his reign bring peace and purpose to your day.
I invite you to say this prayer.
Father, you are the king of glory! I worship you as the creator and ruler of all. Help me to live with clean hands and pure hearts. Let me honour you in everything I do. I pray in the name of Jesus!
