As I read Rev 7, the lyrics of Don Moen’s Hallelujah to the Lamb came to mind.
Lord I stand in the midst of a multitude
Of those from every tribe and tongue
We are Your people redeemed by Your blood
Rescued from death by Your love
There are no words
Good enough to thank You
There are no words to express my praise
But I will lift up my voice
And sing from my heart
With all of my strength
We have read about heaven in this week’s reading. Have you ever imagined what it is like to worship in heaven?
“After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. “(Verse 9.)
Rev 7 is a stunning picture of God’s redeemed from every corner of the world, gathered in worship.
Their white robes symbolize purity through the blood of the Lamb. Their palm branches echo victory and joy. “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” Verse 10 makes it clear to whom salvation belongs to.
Rev 7 reminds us that God’s salvation is for all people and his kingdom transcends every earthly barrier – including culture, language, and geography. It encourages us to consider our role in his mission to gather people from all nations into this family. Know your role. Play your role.
As we reflect on this vision, ponder how you can live as part of God’s diverse yet united kingdom. Seek to share his love with others. Celebrate the beauty of diversity in his creation. Make it a goal to help someone one step closer to knowing Jesus.
I invite you to say this prayer.
Father, thank you for the vision of worship in heaven. As we look forward to joining the worship, help us to live in peace with others and to share the hope of salvation with the world.
