What does it mean to live with an eternal perspective? How do we remain faithful in a world filled with distractions?

Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labour, for their deeds will follow them.” (Verses 13 and 14.)

Rev 14 gives us a glimpse into both the triumph of the Lamb and the sobering reality of God’s final judgement. It starts with a vision of victory – the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, surrounded by the redeemed singing a new song of worship. These faithful followers pure, devoted, and obedient. It then shifts to angelic proclamation of the gospel, a warning against idolatry, and the certainty of God’s judgement. It then concludes with the harvest of the earth. We see an image of the separation between the followers of Christ and those who reject him.

Rev 14 is both comforting and challenging. It reminds us of the victory of the Lamb and the eternal joy that awaits his followers. It also urges us to take seriously God’s call to holiness and evangelism.

Consider your own devotion to Christ. Are there areas where you need to renew your commitment to him? Share the hope of the good news with others. Keep in mind that eternal destinies are at stake. Let the vision of God’s ultimate victory strengthen your faith.

Have you shared the good news today?

I invite you to say this prayer.

Father, thank you for the victory of the Lamb and the hope I have in you. Help me to live with urgency and faithfulness, proclaiming your gospel and walking in obedience. I pray in the name of Jesus Amen.
