Have you ever observed injustice around you? Have you ever seen wrongdoing goes unnoticed? How many times have you seen criminal investigations end with NFA (no further action)? How often do we see court cases dismissed with DNAA (dismissal not amounting to acquittal)?

Then people will say, “Surely the righteous still are rewarded; surely there is a God who judges the earth.” (Verse 11.)

Ps 58 echoes a deep desire for God’s righteous judgement in a corrupted world. It is a bold and striking prayer for justice. The psalmist denounces wicked rulers who fail to uphold fairness and allow evil to flourish. Ps 58 uses vivid imagery to call for God’s intervention to stop the harm caused by corruption. It concludes with a declaration of hope. When God’s justice prevails, the righteous will rejoice. All mankind will know that he is the true Judge.

Ps 58 invites us to trust in God’s ultimate authority, even when injustice seems overwhelming. While it acknowledges the brokenness of mankind, it also affirms that God’s justice is certain and his timing perfect.

As we see or hear about injustice, pray for justice and trust that God hears, and he acts. Speak out against injustice in your community. Support those working towards fairness and restoration. As we wait for God’s judgement, live with integrity, embodying his righteousness in your deeds.

I invite you to say this prayer.

Father, you are the righteous judge. I cry out to you in a world marred by injustice. Help me to trust in your perfect timing. Let me be your instruments of justice and mercy. May my life reflect your holiness and hope. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
