Overflowing: A Landscape of Love and Loss

K,

The silence since November 15th stretches like an infinite landscape, punctuated by memories both tender and raw. Grief arrives not as a single moment, but as a living, breathing presence that inhabits every corner of our shared story. Your absence is a profound language I am learning to speak — each breath a delicate negotiation between profound loss and enduring love.

The practicalities of loss reveal themselves in unexpected moments: your smile that emits joy from the photo, your battalion of thermos and mugs, the rhythm of our home now fundamentally altered. These are not just objects, but repositories of memory, silent witnesses to a love that refuses to be confined by physical separation.

Faith becomes my anchor, not as a dismissal of pain, but as a profound acknowledgment that love transcends the boundaries of mortality. Our connection is not severed—it is transformed. Your essence continues to pulse through the lives you touched, through the stories we shared, through the profound impact of your brief but radiant journey.

Gratitude emerges alongside sorrow — for every moment we were granted, for the depth of connection we experienced, for the grace that continues to sustain me. Each memory is both a farewell and a continuation, a testament to a love that death cannot diminish.

At Christmastide, I am learning that grief and grace are not opposites, but companions—both testaments to the extraordinary capacity of the human heart to love, to heal, to hope. All made possible by the overflowing grace of God.

With a heart both broken and becoming,

Love, Loong
