Amid life’s relentless demands, what does authentic spiritual formation look like? The discipline of reading the Bible every day should not just be another item on our to do list, but a sacred invitation into transformative encounter with divine wisdom.
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” (Psalm 119:105)
As Christians, we grow through consistent engagement with the Word of God. Like a garden that requires regular tending, our spiritual lives flourish through intentional daily nurture. A Bible reading plan is very helpful here. It provides a structure to this sacred discipline. It creates space for divine wisdom to reshape our understanding and transform our hearts.
Consider your own spiritual journey. Is the busyness of life weeding out the meaningful engagement with God’s Word in your garden? Are you able to intentionally carve out space for this transformative encounter? Authentic faith demands more than sporadic spiritual moments. It calls for deliberate and consistent communion with divine truth.
What can we do? Set aside a specific time every day to read the Bible. It is observed that if we do it at the same time every day, it is easier to develop a good habit. You will slowly learn to be free of distractions during this daily divine appointment. Look for a Bible reading plan that aligns with your spiritual season. Do not be too ambitious. Journal your insights and questions. Share your thoughts with those you trust in your community of faith.
The discipline of daily Bible reading is not about spiritual achievements, it is about aligning ourselves to received divine wisdom, to encounter transformative truth, and to experience continuous renewal of our mind.
Let us start the new year with a Bible reading plan. I invite you to say this prayer.
Gracious Father, kindle within me a deeper hunger for your Word. Help me establish rhythms of faithful engagement, that I might be continuously transformed by your truth and grace. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
