But It’s Too Difficult

There are so many opportunities to volunteer in the church. However, have you ever felt unqualified for something God place before you? It could be a leadership role in a ministry, or it could be threading into an unfamiliar territory.

Take courage! Hebrews 13:20-21 reminds us that “Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will.”

It is said that God does not call the equipped, rather he equips the called. When he leads you to something, he provides the strength, wisdom, and resources to accomplish it. Jesus is the shepherd that walks with us and care for us – his sheep. He guides us, he protects us, and he supplies what we need.

We can trust him as we step out in faith. We may feel inadequate. We may feel unqualified. We may think there is someone better suited for the call. However, as we obey, we will discover God’s power from on high working through us. We will see growth, new abilities, and greater confidence – no in ourselves but in him.

We read in the Bible many great persons of faith with the same struggle. Moses did not think he could lead Isreal. Gideon did not think he was strong enough to fight. Peter did not think he could take care of the flock. Yet, when they obeyed, God worked through the beyond what they imagined. God – who is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow – is with you today.

When you hear him calling, say yes. Move forward in faith. Watch how the Great Shepherd equips you more than you ever through possible.
