Without Asking #2

I am invited to translate the sermon on Merdaka Day. Reverand Alexa will preach the sermon for a combined service on 31/08/2025.

I did not ask for prayers the last time I brought Ben to the vet.

I did not ask for prayers this time. I only told Rev Alexa and Pastor Jeremy.

When I saw Dr Tan for my regular checkup, the impact of the psychological anxiety was apparent on my body. I told Dr Tan I suspected my high heart rate and blood pressure were due to my urge to go to the toilet. After a visit to the toilet (a false alarm it was), my reading became normal. What takes place in my mind affects my overall wellbeing.

So, in the week leading up to Merdaka Day, I thought of eating safely (that is, less spicy food, less oil, and the like.) I thought of getting enough sleep. When I get enough sleep and I get up early, I have more time to go to the toilet. I do not have to rush to leave home.

I did not know what got into me. While telling myself not to get spicy food, I ordered a bundle with two sets of nasi lemak with ayam goreng berempah, the day right before Merdeka Day. It was a good thing the sambal was not spicy. I skipped dinner. I tried to sleep early and ended up hitting the sack past midnight. I did not really fall asleep until about an hour later.

I requested my sister and Jesse to give me a wake-up call, just in case. The alarm in my phone woke me up. About 10 minutes later, I got the call from my sister from Singapore. I sent a Telegram message to Jesse to let him know I was already up. Why did I tell him that? Didn’t I always want him to call me?

Besides Pastor Jeremy and Rev Alexa, I did not tell anyone about this. Rev Alexa told me I would interpret for her (without problem.) I did not ask anyone for prayer. I prayed on my own. I did share this worry with my family.

I would like to note that when I translated for Rev Alexa on 14/08/2025 and when I preached on the following Sunday, I did not get any problem with my tummy. I got in the zone easily and I did not need to go to the toilet until I did grocery shopping and went home to see Ben.

It was the same this morning. I arrived early. I went to the toilet twice before the combined service started. I did not go to the toilet during worship. I chose to worship. The enemy told me I would be sorry for this decision. I was not.

I interpreted. I lost track with a Bible reference once. Rev Alexa helped. Other than that, I was ok.

All glory to Jesus. All glory to God!
