Changing the Script of Your Life

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)

In drama or skits, everyone has a script. The script tells actors when to come on stage, what to say, the actions to take, and how to express themselves.

When working on a healthier lifestyle using Noom, I learned that we often eat by a script shaped by place, time, and habits. To change my eating, I need to change my script – make healthier choices at the store and pay attention to my eating patterns.

I listened to a podcast on why we’re polite to chatbots. Even when we know they are not human, we use a script – saying “please” and “thank you.”

Which script are you following in your life? Is it leading you where you hope to go?

Life is about learning and changing to become better. Sometimes, we get comfortable in habits that do not serve us, even if it means staying in a rut.

The Holy Spirit is always present in the Christian journey, offering guidance. The decision to follow is ours.

Are you content with your script? What changes will help you move forward? Whether it’s keeping a Bible or an apple at hand, getting more rest, picking healthy habits, or meeting with Christian friends regularly, take a step toward a better script.

I invite you to say this prayer.

Father, help me recognize the habits and scripts that lead me away from your purpose. Give me wisdom to make better choices, and courage to follow your guidance each day. Renew my heart and mind so I can walk in your truth. I pray in the name of Jesus, amen.
