Learning to Feel (and to Live) Again

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Ps 147:3)

After long seasons of loneliness or hurt, it feels easier to stay numb. You stop expecting too much. You tell yourself it is safer not to feel. But healing begins when you allow yourself to feel again.

When faced with honesty, pain can lead to growth. When you face your sadness, anger, or disappointment, you give God space to heal your wounds. A doctor cannot treat your wound if you hold on to it. God cannot heal what you keep hidden.

Feeling again also means opening your heart to others. It means smiling even when you are not sure if you remember how. It means showing up for a meal, a call, a prayer. Small acts of connection are seeds of new life.

Healing takes time. Be patient. Do not rush. But remember this: you are still capable of joy. You are still capable of love.

I invite you to say this prayer.
Father, thank you for being patient with me as I learn to live again. Heal what is broken in me. Teach me to feel, to forgive, and to hope. Help me to walk toward others with an open heart. I pray in the name of Jesus, amen.
